AI will not take your job. It will take your job description.

Work is dissolving from roles into tasks. The people who win are the ones who design the tasks first.

A job was never a single thing. It was a bundle of tasks held together by one salary, one title and one desk. That bundle made sense while every task needed the same person. It stops making sense the moment each task can be priced separately.

What actually changes first?

Not headcount. Budgets. Organisations adopting AI at scale buy it task by task: drafting, checking, scheduling, summarising. Each purchase quietly removes one thread from someone’s job description, and nobody rewrites the description.

The job title will be the last thing to change, and the least important.

This is why the loudest question, whether AI will replace people, is the wrong one. Replacement is a headline. Unbundling is a process, and it moves quietly through every team that measures work in tasks. Foresight · High 8/10 · 1 of 3 triggers developing

Who gains?

The people who design the bundle. When tasks become modular, value moves to deciding which tasks belong together, which belong to machines, and which must stay human because they carry judgement, trust or accountability.

So the useful question is not how to protect your job. It is whether you will write your next job description yourself, or let a procurement spreadsheet write it for you.
